New With Question
« on: July 01, 2009, 11:36:00 AM »
Hello Everyone,

Ive been tinkering around with bikes for a little bit now, and well i have decided  to just go with and am now embarked on a adventure to create the perfect "Americanized" Cafe Racer.

Now to the question. I have noticed some bikes on here that have the carburetors painted, just curious as to how this was done?

Well thanks,

Captain

Welcome Capt...

You might want to post that question in the SOHC4 Tech section as you will get a lot more views.

As for painted carbs? Don't think I've seen many of them. Do you mean painted ally or a different colour?

Welcome to the forums, Mr. America. I'd say what Steve said. Post the question to the tech forums (if you haven't already). It seems the type of question that may draw some kibbitzing.

Welcome!

In theory painting the carbs is as straight forward as disassembling them, prepping them for paint, shooting them, and reassembling them.  The complexity of the part and the masking they need is what dissuades more people from doing this imo, that and the concern for the paint getting borked at the first fuel leak.  That said I think painted carbs look awesome.

BTW how do you define an "Americanized" Cafe Racer?

Sorry, Captain. We tend to do that because the forum was renamed not long ago. It's now called "SOHC/4 Bikes." It's the second on the list just below FAQ's.
