cyclex 850cc kit for the cb750
« on: July 05, 2009, 11:43:03 PM »
The cyclex 850cc kit is a winner. Just fired up an engine I rebuilt with the 850cc slugs in it, and man does it run great. Fired right up, and idles at a smooth 1000 RPM, without having even synced the carbs yet. Took a guess at jetting with stock cam, K&N pods, and kerker pipes, with 128 mains. This engine PULLS STRONG. I'd love to use these with a hot cam.

Anyway, props to ken for providing the kit.

Have the same kit and building the engine now. Think the pistons look great and I've weighed them and they're very equal. did you bore out the oem liners? I have used the liners from a CB900.

Cheers, rob
Better sorry for failing then for the lack of trying.

Yes, I used stock liners. It took forever to bore them though, because the walls were getting so thin they needed to let them cool between each pass. I'll post more results later.... I've noticed lots of interest in them here, but few seem to have tried them and reported back.

I'm convincing my wife that in order to fix the crack in my crank case that I need to buy that kit, new valves, springs and a cam.  ;D

Did you build the engine yourself? And would you say a novice would be able to do it?

Yes, I rebuilt the whole bike. I think these engines are easy to rebuild, you just have to be patient. There are lots of helpful threads on here. There's nothing particularly different about the 850 kit in doing so.
