Topic: When did everyone become a butthole?

I can't help it, but this is an endless source of frustration for me. In the seventies when you met another rider it was usually a raised fist biker salute, and everyone did it, everyone, or else they only had one arm.

Nowadays I don't try to fiqure it out anymore, must be doctors & lawyers that can't see past the end of their own noses. 

I was always raising the left arm/fist salute of "Two-Wheel power club" as taught to me by other riders running by me back in the 70's when I started riding and it was like a kinship/wave thing.. I think I should start initiating more waves to many other motorists now myself after reading this thread !  I guess I should look at it as being a "two wheel goodwill ambassador" to let folks know being on a motorcycle is good Karma or something,it sure can't hurt

Hard to get a wave back from a Harley.  Even if both are baggers.

Careful though, some of those waves you don't think you get, you are actually getting one.  I and other people I know lift there fingers up, still keeping the bottom part of the palm on the bar.  Sometimes I think the mirror gets in the way.

That's the wave I typically give.  On some of my bikes it can be difficult to raise your hand and concentrate on the traffic - so I do this.  If I can, I'll raise my hand and give them 4 fingers and a thumb.  I do think that given the large number of riders on the roads these days the 'wave' is becoming obsolete.

I also think even making eye-contact in today's world seems to be going out of style;I gotta work on that.
