I've got one I found in a parts lot with a key, and am trying to decide if its worth keeping for when I finally get around to restoring my K0 750. When did the changeover take place to the newer style ignition? If it was not original to my bike, I figured I'd might as well sell it rather than trying to make my bike something it isn't. Thanks.

They might have that information over at the Sandcast Only Owners Club.

I can vouch for the fact that the recessed ignition was still standard on K0's with a build date of 11/69. I have one. I would use it if I were you, but if it is not that important to you, it could fetch a few $$ on eBay, particularly with a matching key.

I agree with Bob.  Your KO would be more complete with the recessed if it works good.  My KO has a build date of 1/70 and has it.  I have an extra in case mine dies and have seen those go for around $200 - $300 depending if they have the matching steering lock.

Well, mine is a 6/70, right as the changeover was taking place. The ignition has a working key that does not have the nub on it, and no matching steering lock. I really don't want to get rid of it, just brainstorming for funds for my Suzuki project.

I have frame #1043488 with production of 6/70.  My key / switch matches the lock with no recess.

My K0, #1023907, production date 2/70, did not have a recessed switch.

Is the switch different or just the mounting bracket? Mine was built in 11-69 I think it is the original switch but has been relocated.  :'(
