I could kill an entire day and God knows how many sheets of film around that location with the view camera.  :'(

Amazing srust!  Beautiful.

Lush green grass, and a haven sprung up from the ocean, almost.  Inspiring.
I wish we could still build like this.

What do you mean, 20th century. Photography was invented in 1839, the year before my birth.  ;D

Do you use one.  Never have myself but they are the ultimate in resolution.

I've been shooting 35mm and processing my own film for 30+ years  :-\, always wanted to learn to use a large format cam, so about a year ago picked up a used Cambo mono rail. Very flexible, but bulky in the field. I recently picked up a very nice, used folding 4x5 field camera. Still learning for sure. I occasionally take a decent shot by accident.  :D

Yes, great resolution when you consider a 4x5 negative is 13 times larger than a 35mm negative. I belong to one forum dedicated to analogue (film) photography. The mere mention of digital will get you in trouble there. :-X I shoot with a digital Nikon SLR also, so I keep that to myself on that forum.  ;D

Has anyone watched the History Channel series "Life After People?" Many of these scenes remind me of it. Pretty interesting series. For some reason I'm attracted to abandoned structures and they are the focus (no pun intended) of many of my photos.

If you like that series read the book by Alan Weisman titled The World Without Us.  Goes into details on what would happen to cities, bridges, power plants, and many other man made structures if we instantly vanished.  Particularly interesting is how quickly New Yorks subways would be destroyed by water.  This cable series may be based on the book but I am not sure not having cable so I have never seen it.

You can watch the Life After People episodes here:
http://www.history.com/content/life_after_people

I just started watching them myself.  Very interesting.  Also just started the book by Weisman.

I was surprised to learn;

"Thirteen million gallons of water are pumped from the city's [New York] subway system daily.. "  :o

And it consumes as much power each day as the entire State of Vermont.

Is that pic really from 2003? It'd be interesting to see what it looks like today. Around here, someone would have already snagged that up and sold it to a collector/builder or the tweakers would have hauled it in for scrap metal.
