I have taken to riding with a camera because of this thread since it is actually my favorite.
I came across this Barn in Putnam next County which is still a bit more rural than mine. There is an open field behind it with some Cattle.

Scattered around the area are these stone structures which were until fairly recently considered to be root cellars built by the original settlers. They are now under serious study since journals kept by the original settlers claimed they simply found them and used them. It is now believed they were built by Norseman who came to North America. This one is on a public road so anyone can see it, others are protected and being studied by Universities. I have seen others that have been untouched. Notice flat stones on the structure and the typical round stones used on the wall next to it.

This is a building in the Bear Mountain area. It is right on the banks of the Hudson River. I peeked in the window and it may have been a bait shop and food stop since I saw coolers and fishing tackle displays. It has been emty since I started passing it about 10 years ago.

In a small Town called Verplank NY I sound these old gasoline tanks. Verplank is a Town is on a Point jutting out into the Hudson. They call themselves "Pointers". They do not like outsiders and used to take down the State sign that pointed to road leading to it. Someone stopped and asked what I was doing and naming "pointers" I knew, they told me these were Shell gasoline tanks, that for a while had been converted to storage barns.

This is a former Country Store on Route 301 in Putnam County. It is on one of of the best roads to ride on. I used to stop there along with a lot of bikes. A few years ago it suddenly closed. The spray painted words tell the story. The place was never much, and i doubt someone will reopen it. The Tables are already rotting away.
