I grew up in west texas, and there are many oilboom towns that are now ghost towns. My favorite and most often visited is Toyah. I dont have any pictures on this computer. but this link is interesting.
http://www.texasescapes.com/TOWNS/Toyah_Texas/Toyah_Texas.htm#videoI remember several years ago a tornado touched down and destroyed the three or four buildings that made up "downtown." I have always wanted to get into that high school and take pictures but there are still about 10 people that live in the town. As soon as you pull up and start poking around its kind of creepy, they all just stare at you from their front porch. You can get into the basement, but all the entrances are concreted up.
I dont know about many around Austin, where I live now, but I am looking.
I'd really like to do some of the urban exploring that gets done in the northeast.
