Yeah, my wife bought her first car from one of her neighbours, it was a 1969 Ford Cortina 440. I'd like to say that it was the biggest POS we've ever owned, but I have to say I had a soft spot for that little crossflow 1600cc engine, it was a gem, even if the rest of the car was a pile. Every time I slammed the door a piece of the sill (rocker) panel would hit the ground, there were rust holes in the sills, the floor, the boot (trunk) etc.

I eventually took it to the wreckers, and watched them cut the front off to remove the engine and gearbox. I didn't feel at all bad watching it being chopped up, but I bet somewhere in the world, there are people who actually collect and restore those piles of garbage........... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Here an abandoned Hat Factory. I parked my Honda took the picture and went around the side to take a leak. When I returned four minority youths where around the bike and advanced toward me. I retrieved something from the inner pocket of my jacket and just said NO. I think my personality overcame their dark desire.

That actually would have been a flip phone.  I knew the area was flaky but I wanted to explore this old buildings. My big concern was one of these do gooders that were "gentrifyng" the Town calling the Cops about my menacing some of these downtrodden minority youths. I of course did not leave Town I just went over to some old Railroad Tracks a few blocks away. I am sure if you were there it would have been a fine punch up.   ;D

The good thing with Ducati's is that last years model is not of any interest to the "Ducati-isti" posers, so if you're patient enough, you can pick one up for a reasonable price before they're too old. Happy Birthday Cowman! ;D

Thanks.
Could ramble on and on about that bike.  To only confirm what everyone is writing up.  It was a great way to mark the 30th trip around the sun.
My only real complaint is the damn fuel light came on and i had to give it back.  The bars could be 2 or 3 inches higher for longer canyon rides.

I hope this model has a good long run.
Wait long enough and could pull one out of a barn for $100!  Rebuild it my way....if all the sensors still work 🙄

Yeah mate, I took a new Buell for a test ride back in the late 1990's, then saw one the other day still in mint condition and thought, "Hmmnnn, I could probably afford one now..........." ;D

Ha ha, very good. I'm not sad that HD got rid of the Buell, they are a weird thing and (looking at sales) not to that many riders tastes, but I am happy that Erik had a hand in improving the performance of the sportster engines, the post 2006 Sporties benefited from Buell's cylinder head and cam work, and they have a heap more BHP and torque than the early sportsters. The good thing is, I can retro-fit the pistons, cylinders, and heads onto my 1995 XLH1200 and pretty much double the rear wheel BHP. Sweet.

The last Buell's had a few issues (apart from some really ugly lines) including oil leaks and sketchy electricals, and HD spent a lot of money on warranty claims. I don't want one, I wouldn't mind an early Buell, but they're still too expensive, but hey, I'm not in a rush........ ;D

The Horse Heavens are up in Washington west and north of the Columbia and south of Prosser..  This house is in north central Oregon, the closest town being Condon, if I remember right.  But it is a quite a ways from there, out all by itself.

...closer to Walla Walla then! I used to live in Kennewick when I was a senior in H.S., and the Horse Heaven Hills were south of us, and went for a long ways. That's nice country, out there! I used to take the '68 International Travelall AWD out there and explore where there aren't any roads. There is a lot of plains and desert in that area. And a lot of abandoned stuff...

Nope, Walla Walla is in Washington too.  Toward the southeast corner.  And you are right, a lot of abandoned farms in that area too.

Yes, its near the border of Oregon. Zane Grey had a book about the farms out there in the Columbia basin, called The Desert Wheat, and a sequel... had to do with some topics that were a little sensitive back in the '30's, and for a while the book was banned or censored in areas.

This is a building in Beacon NY. It is a Town in transition. It is on the Hudson River. River towns became very rough and now are being "gentrified". When I took this pic the process was just beginning. It was a dangerous place, nonetheless I would stop anyway. I went by this year and this is now a restaurant.
The problem I have here in this part of NY is that it is populated and the probabliity of running into a pissed off owner or the local cops is fairly high. When I started doing these pics it was much different.
