Hey,

I am a new proud owner of a 1977 CB550.  I just joined the board and heard there is a lot of good info here.  I currently own a 75 Suzuki T500 twin.  Love the two strokes.  Just wondering if there is a way to get keys made for the CB550 ignition?  The guy that sold me the bike did not have them.  On the suzuki there is number stamped on the key switch.  Does honda do a similar thing?

Check eBay, too.  A lot of times you can find whole lock sets for sale (ignition, fork and seat locks with keys).

If you want a new key CHEAP, see Mark Troxell at hondakeys.com.  He stocks NOS Honda keys (not the cut variety) at a VERY reasonable prices.  I've used him for four sets with different key numbers and he had all of them and the keys looked just like the day Honda made 'em!  Fast service too.

... forgot one thing.  The key number should be stamped on the ignition switch.

I agree 100%. Orig. keys for my K0 are plugged keys, but I never had any with the plug. Had only one key and the other had been broken off in the fork lock. I saw my plugged key number in a batch on eBay and they consistently went for over $100 each time he auctioned them. I contacted Mark T. sent my key number and a pic of my key. He had them and I got a set of two for $30. He sells reg. keys for much less and as stated good, fast service.

honda keys have numbers, the lock should have a number too on some models, gettin keys now that is the hard part.


Yaaaa, another T500 owner on the board. Mine's a 1971. Where are you located? The t500 is a much faster bike than the cb550.

I am kind of new here myself I am in the market for a t 500  those bikes kick butt or a 75 RD350
lots of good info seems the 550 is quite a good little motor after playing mine this past weekend  it runs so smooth nice sound from the stock 4-1 header
