replacing upper bridge...
« on: July 07, 2009, 11:12:43 AM »
Hi, how difficult is it to replace the upper bridge in a honda 350F? Do I have to worry about anything sliding up or down, etc... anything coming out of alignment?

EDIT: also, what is the best way to strip the paint from the bridge, and re paint it? thx much

Loosen 2 bolts on ends holding forks, remove handlebars, both gauges and any cables cables running thru the upper tree. Remove crown nut and spanner ut below it (shock tool or just punch it out (unscrew) w/ a drift or screwdriver. Lift off tree and watch ball bearings fall on garage floor....Lower tree will fall out if forks are not attached and watch THOSE ball bearings fall on garage floor....

hei 736

unless the 350's fork is vastly different form other sohc's, no balls will fall on the floor when you lift the tree because the stem will be held in place by the flat adjuster nut.

Very easy to take apart and re-assemble but you WILL NEED a torque wrench to put it back together or there is a good possibility of breaking it when you tighten pinch bolts around fork tubes.
Not as weak as some Honda top yokes but not as easy to get hold of if you break it
