starter drive removal and lite weight flywheel

hello...i am a new member from east central Indiana...i am working on a couple old 750 cafe bike and need some help....i am removing all the electric starter and starter clutch from the engine....my question is ...do i need to plug the oil supply in crank that is left open when i remove the one way clutch...didn't know if it had enough loss to loose pressure to number 1 main....any info would be appreciated....thanks Bradley

I would put a sleeve over it with a flange toward the main bearing, otherwise I think you will get a drop in oil pressure.

Errr, don't you need the kickstart pinion gear to drive the oil pump?! I can see plugging the kickstart shaft hole and the starter motor hole gear hole make perfect sense and also removing the non-return mechanism on the kickstart shaft but if you take the whole lot out, what's going to drive the oil pump?

We were only talking about the starter drive and crank are where starter gear is located.

...and once the pistons get hot enough they lubricate themselves  ;D

Ya, i did it on my 77K and my temporary solution to fill the hole was silicon. HAHA, maybe not a long term fix but it removes that heavy electric starter. I think there is a electric starter clutch block-off plate that is sold but whatever. Oil pressure is still good. Had to play with the wiring but just having a kick start is just way cooler!

LOL! I once had a Minarelli racer where the kickstarter shaft was plugged with...a wine cork!  :D
