I would like to see a close up of the gussets on the frame (front, below the tank and at the bottom of the oil tank).

there are definitely some nice aspects to the bike. i really wonder what was going thru the person mind when that person came up with that price.

there was a guy who restores the first or second generation of the 750. i wonder how much those go for. i think i saw him on youtube or something. built the bike up in less than 24 hrs.

In deed, take a look at the frame pics at the craigslist listing.
It seems to be bondo (my opinion) or well sanded weldings.
In fact, I like the frame, but the whole 'cafe' thing
is not my cup of coffee.

Considering Carpy will build you a show bike for 10 - 12K this is a tad overpriced.

I was wondering the same thing about those painted carbs. Was going to try it with high temp engine paint but don't think they will hold up if they leaked or gas spilled on them.

chrome paint. notice how only half the choke lever is "chromed". Looks like he didn't even pull it off the carbs to "chrome" it.

I guess it's "chromed out".... what else is there? I guess he could change out that mismatched points cover for the OEM chrome one.
ooh! he could chrome that big chipped out fin on the jugs

I have the same hose clamps on the manifolds, and the same filters.

Route those hoses baby!!!

I think most of us are more critical of the asking price. If this project popped up in any of the listings here, we probably be nice. The boldness, audacity, insanity... what ever... of asking big bucks for that work, brings all the critics out of the woodwork.

That's true, but the seller was asking for it. For that kind of money, it should be "perfect" wouldn't you think?

I think I would be critical of the workmanship anyway. lots of half assed shortcuts that should not be lauded as "the correct way" to do stuff.

cables have already been pointed out as being too long, not oruted properly, etc. Not properly disassembling stuff to detail it - belies other issues (how well did he disassemble those carbs to paint them if he can't be bothered to "chrome" a whole choke arm held in by one nut.

the lessons people should be learning from this bike are:

- if you are going to ask big money, you better have the craftsmanship and quality parts to back it up.

- if you want people to trust the work they can't see, you better be extra careful about the work they can see. I don't know how well those "frame mods" were done if the guy is not that focuesd on the details, I would not trust them just from looking at this bike.

at tops he probably spent $3000 to $4000 to build this bike, if that. cables routed LONG and Wrong, clubmans installed high in the sky, chunks out of the fins, wonder if its spray bombed? All which is not that big of a deal IF you are selling the bike for a few thousand at most.

I think this guy was smoking from the exhaust pipe when he listed this for that much money! Or it could have been a typo. maybe he's only asking $1900

they are offering a chance for them to build you one for $7500 in another auction. It is another useless cafe bike (lowered?!?! really?!?! betcha high center it on speed bumps with that pipe) but at least it is better constructed.

surely the entire world has not abandoned the idea that a cafe bike actually be ridden in a sporting manner?
