Can anyone verify that the diameter of a 78 CB750 SOHC's front axle is 14 mm and the rear diameter is 20mm? Thanx,Joe

Without getting my ass to the shop I believe the front is 15mm & the rear is indeed 20.

Gee,that's strange. I'm sitting here in Seattle,Wa.,USA,with a front axle off a 1978 CB750,and an axle off a 1971 CL450 and using the same caliper that told me my rear axle is 20mm,tells me both front axles are 14mm!! I made the post because I read elsewhere in the forum that it is 15mm.????

Digital or vernier caliper? The vernier I use, because the way the lines are etched, I often an reading wrong line and am out 1mm, if I am not careful....its because the 15 25 etc is beside the line not under it. :(

:-[  Mea culpa, mea culpa. The "14"mm axle was small enough to snug up all the way in my calipers past the measuring portion, while the 20mm axle caught the measure. When I slid the "14" back into the measuring portion, low and behold it gained a mm! So,yes, the front axle is indeed 15mm. If anyone needs axles made, check out:

My axle cost $35.

Thanx. If I hadn't stumbled across an axle discussion,I would have ordered the wrong axle!
