Black painted area dimensions on K5 tank!
« on: July 08, 2009, 04:50:00 PM »
SOHC Oracles and Gurus,

I dropped by the paint shop today to look at my tank and side covers; they did get the Planet Blue color perfect and paint job is really nice but...
They forgot to paint the black area on the tank- sigh sigh sigh - and they seem reluctant to place the decal... in brief "what I have done in a past life to ________________" <fill in the blanks>
Anyway, they are really willing to do the job right so here are my questions:

1- Does anyone has the dimension of the Black area for the tank so I can potentially make a stencil and give it to the painter???

2- Someone suggested earlier in a previous tank discussion/thread that I could have the stripes painted in place of the decal... That's seems to be a good alternate solution but would you do it?

 ???

HA! I asked this same question for my '77 750F2 a while back and my question is all alone in that thread with NO answers. Good luck.

I think I'm going to paint mine soon, even though I have said that for months, and I need to figure out something so the tank isn't just a solid color.

It looks like my 74 750 has the same black area, let me go measure it real quick.

These are the measurements of the decal area. I imagine if you shrink the area just a little bit you would have room for the decal.

I only wish that it was mine, just a picture I used from google images to show the dimensions I measured
