1977 CB750K with 950 miles

Here's my new toy. Just took the Windjammer fairing off and polished up the sidecovers. Took the original bars off and put on a set of drag bars. The new headlight is in, just waiting for the ears to mount it up. Next I'm looking for a different seat.

Lucky find. Take good care of it and be sure the rubber grommets for the sidecovers are soft and pliable so you don't crack the covers. If the seat is stock you may not do any better unless you rebuild it.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

The story is that the original owner was in the service and brought the bike home one day. The wife said "No Way"! So he sold it to the second owner who put 936 miles on it....and then died. His wife left the bike in the garage with gas in the tank till about '95 when the third owner bought it. By then the tank had rusted through and the carbs were varnished up. #3 obtained a replacement tank and cleaned out the carbs and got it running and put 14 miles on the bike before storing it until this year. I found it on Craigslist.

I coated them up with Armor All, but you're right, they are a little stiff. I've been very careful pulling them on and off. Are new grommets available? Any special rejuvenating liquids for rubber?

I see a lot of these King/Queen seats on old Hondas, but I don't think they were stock. I think they were added on with the fairing.

I agree with this statement. Its just my opinion however the stock would be better, tho I hear those are very comfy..

Not to rain on your parade, but I have gauges in the garage with 16k on them - connect them to my 70k bike and ta-dah!

The odometer stops when you disconnect it. Make sure you do the usual run through-oil change, plugs, filters, etc.

I looked it over pretty well when I bought it. There isn't a wrench mark or screwdriver mark on anything. I changed the oil and brake fluid. Still have to get in and take a look at the air filter. The chassis still has assembly paint on the bolts, nubs on the tires, and when I took the side covers off it looked brand new.

I couldn't agree more. I'm looking for a stock seat that's reasonable or at least a frame that I can have someone make a seat on.

I pulled my father in laws 78 750 out of the corner of the shop with 6,717 on it and tags from '82. A little cleaning and minor replacements and she's good as new. Nice find.

Now that's a good in-law to have! My tags were from '92 and luckily they had put a non-op on the registration. The lady at the DMV said the registration would have been over $400.

I wont' be driving on 30 year old tires. As soon as I get a headlight on it, it's going to the shop for new rubber.

Anyone know where I can find '77 headlight ears?

Went out for my first ride since I got this bike last night. What a great running bike. Reminds me a lot of the '81 CB750 Custom I bought new out of high school.

What have you guys done to keep the fuel tank door from rattling?

I didn't notice the seat at first. Made by Lazy Boy no doubt  :D  New seats are not available from Honda but there's a good chance you can find one on EBay. Not really sure about 77/78 K. NOS or repro seats are listed all the time. You will not be allowed to put a used seat on that new bike. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Side cover grommets are still available from Honda. REAL GOOD investment. Try replacing that side cover!!

My trick to is go to http://www.bikebandit.com/honda/oem-parts first. If it shows a quantity box then it is available from Honda. I then go to http://www.servicehonda.com/TSWeb/default.htm and order. 20-30% off MSRP that you just saw at Bike Bandit. Another less complicated site they have is   http://xtremeusa.com/fiche_select.asp which I have not used.

The fuel door has a catch in it that should prevent it from rattling. It's called Clip, filler lock. Check one of the fiche that I've pointed you to to see it. Probably not available new but you should be able to find one if necessary.

Got the new bars on the bike. Got the headlight mounted, but the ears are wrong. Working on another set right now. Still looking for a stock seat setup.

Got out for a ride this evening. Took a ride down to the beach and then up into the hills. Bike runs fantastic. Stopped by the local dealer to price some tires...I think I'll order them myself and get them mounted.

Oh, I can't say it has less than 1000 miles anymore, but I bought it to ride it not store it.

Seat isn't listed on BB. Has anyone purchased a seat from the Portland OR place that advertises on Ebay? They say the use a plastic seatpan, but the seats look good in the pictures.

y brother bought one of these...77 K. Brand new...made it about three feet outside the door of the Honda shop and dropped it. Broke both front and rear turn signals...bent the shifter...broke the clutch handle and mirror. Had to pick it up and put it back inside so they could fix it. All we could do was laugh about it. He didnt even have it running!  :D

Nice bike you have. keep up the good work. I am looking at a 77 K right now. Needs alot more then what yours needs. I might end up with it.
