The only drawback is the forum page gets really tiny.  Try and make the screen bigger with your fingers and you click a link.  Otherwise it works quite well.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

It's been a while since I visited these forums on my iPod Touch, but I know when I visit on my BlackBerry, I see a text-based version of the page that's a lot more mobile-device-friendly.

With the ipod you get everything.  This may come as old news for some of the digi veterans, but to a newbie is way cool.

I'm still using a cheap old phone that Alltel won't even service anymore (got a battery off the 'net) and a Palm device for work.  I need to graduate to the modern era.

Is it an ipod or an iphone? I've got an ipod, but didn't know I could access the internet with it? Sorry guys, my "hi-tech" knowledge is still in the points ignition era...............  ::)
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The widescreen iPod Touch is basically an iPhone without the phone ability. Normal iPods can't access the internet.

Yeah me too,  I didn't even have a cell phone until this year.  I have the ipod that Laminar posted a pic of.  Have I said it yet? This thing is #$%*ing sweet!  I've got to be careful otherwise I'll owe itunes my left nut before too long.

In some cases yes, but only if you want to pay $80-$100/month for a voice+unlimited data plan. I used my iPod Touch in school instead of a laptop. Because there was wi-fi everywhere on campus, I had no need for the cell network, and I could check and send email, browse the web during class, play games, etc. The battery was good for four or five hours of wi-fi browsing/game playing, so I was usually good for a full day of classes.

Love my iPhone.  I used to carry a phone and an iPod.  Made more sense to have them in the same device.  Got the wife one too.  For the first time in our lives together, we have a contact list (Address Book) that is actually kept up with.  Major improvement!  She adds to the contact list, 30 seconds later, it is in mine.

I hardly ever turn my computer on anymore!

That's the only thing about my iPod touch...  The first generation devices don't have a speaker or buttons besides the menu button.  That means on the bike (wearing gloves) I'm pretty much stuck with a playlist and volume level until I get the chance to take the gloves off and change it.

Yep, that was my point, why on earth would you want to lug around an ipod and a cell phone when an iphone performs both functions as well as the two individual units, for half the pocket space? Hell, my pants are tight enough as it is! The ipod touch thingy seems kinda, er, useless to me, know what I mean? ::)

Hmm now that I have had an iphone for a while I must admit it would be hard to live without it. Sometimes I wonder if I should have just got the ipod touch but then I will be in the middle of nowhere and bam I got 3G and access to everything.

For you ipod touch guys you can make calls and chat as well as browse the internet as long as your in a wifi zone..

Jailbreak your stuff boys.. if you pay for it take controll of it :D

I already explained a scenario in which the Touch is useful.

Yeah you did, but the iphone will do exactly the same thing, plus make phone calls, which the touch won't do, so (to me at least) the touch is kinda pointless. Just my opinion of course, I'm no tech head, the company I work for bought me a fancy phone with a GPS, Bluetooth, Internet access, MP3 player etc, and all I've ever used it for is making phone calls..................  :P

But the cost and contract associated with the iphone is a dead point for most. If I was a college kid in a big city that most likely has a lot of wifi hot spots I would get the ipod touch and do everything the over priced iphone does.

This coming from a guy with a iphone.. I didnt get the iphone for the phone I got for the lack of wifi in KC and its ability with 3G.

I only use my computer to upload pics for hosting and if I have a lot of typing to do in an email. Otherwise it's iPhone all the time. The iPod would be cheaper but I like to keep my pockets as empty as possible.

Response typed on my iPhone.

Ah I get it now, the iphone is better than the touch, but the contract/usage costs in the US are prohibitive? Fair enough, that makes sense, over here the plans must be more reasonable, because iphones are commonplace, but I've never even seen a touch. I must admit that I do like the look of the new iphone, I might have to get one! Cheers, Terry. ;D

The iphone service in Alaska is at times is spotty plus it's expensive, for what I need the ipod is more than adequate, plus i received the ipod as an unexpected gift so it's usefulness is exponential to every time I do something with it.

Well you could always glue a cheap cell phone to the other side Mr B, and then it'd be really, really, useful! ;D
