complete ignition overhaul check list
« on: July 08, 2009, 03:06:50 PM »
I am in the process of overhauling a cb750 with the k1 engine. It's quite a basket case and instead of trouble shooting  the system I' m going to update and replace everything needed. So far I've decided on the dyna-s 1-2 ignition, the dyna green 3 ohm coils, dyna' plug wires and the oem plugs. I've already bought a new starter relay and I'm looking at a rectifier/regulator combo from Rick's.

My question is this:

Will this cover the entire ignition system?

and are there any suggestions on different parts?

The 750 will be a daily driver. I really look to make this a dependable ride. I've searched high and low and the Dyna-s system looks to be all I can really find. I've also heard people having low idle problems with the 3 ohm coils. Would 5 ohm be better for my application?

Tons of people have used it with great success. It doesn't replace the points, but rather it uses the points as a kind of relay for the actual ignition power, greatly increasing the life of the points and the reliability of the ignition system, for much less money that a Dyna.

Heres a link where you can make a HEI triggered ignition system.
