Topic: SPST Start Button from radioshack

I bought theses two-post buttons SPST from radioshack to replace my start button. It has two posts. My 74' 750 has only the green/red and yellow/red wires. With the power on, the starter is turning without pushing the button. If i push the putton it seems to stop it. and if I disconnect the wires from the switch the starter doesnt spin unless putting them together. I'm guessing the button is junk maybe to much amperage for it? anything I'm overlooking?

The button is working opposite of the way it's supposed to?

Is the button Normally Closed (NC) or Normally Open (NO)?

You want a NO type button.

I posted a somewhat simliar question a while back and scooter1 pointed me to
this wicked looking replacement:

which I promptly bought  . It works fine and I'm looking forward to bolting it on the
left side at the cover Mad Max style.

I bought something similar at murrays/oreilys and it stopped working after a month. I will pick one of these up!
