A little bit of slide for today. This guy's name is Jeff Lang and he used to front a metal band in Melbourne, you wouldn't know it by watching this clip.  Look at some of his other stuff.....its great.

This all reminds me of a band from ATL GA around about the same early 90's. Follow For Now. A band close to fame till it detoured up the nose to clicheville. Hell of a live act and the CD (if you can find it) is a good capsule  of the mood of the new south.

what i like about it besides being a good tune is that it signaled the end of what i thought was ozzy's crappy 80's sound. i remember when he trimmed down too... i was a bit surprised!

i love all kinds of music from all sorts of countries and all kinds of different bands, while my favourite song changes with my mood, it's ALWAYS a Grateful Dead song. i saw the band 178 times in the 15 years i was a fan. todays favourite is from their 1980 album Reckoning the song is "on the road again" and now, sure as youre born, it's.......

from my first dead show (september 3rd 1980 springfield civic center springfield mass) to the last one (April 7th, 1995 Tampa Stadium, tampa fl) i was hooked. the only other band i saw perform anywhere even close to that many times were the Ramones. i saw them around 20 times between 80 and 89

Talking of long standing bands - I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd live for the first time a couple of months back. It was like Southern rock and roll royalty - Skynyrd, "Rattlesnake" Ricky Medlocke on lead guitar (Blackfoot are one of my favourite all time bands) and Dale Krantz from Rossington Collins band on backing vocals.

Just one single encore song.....Freebird!

i saw skynyrd for their first... and second (talk about milking their legend cashe  ::)) reunion tours. they were the first group where i could honestly say i liked every song they did.

i saw blackfoot twice too, at the  agora ballroom in ct. after the second time (for which we were an hour late... booze, but so was the band) on the way home and with a car full of hootch my pal and i shot bottle rockets from each side of the car at the traffic ahead. good times.

one of the best right here:

it was a tradition to awaken the lost souls the morning after with this. god, i feel 22 again.  :'(

bucky, when i was a wee lad the dead played at umass, i lived in north amherst and you could always hear the spring concerts, and the hells angels were in town supposedly their body guards or something. i bumped into a few too.

i still have one ticket stub; the part with the year is gone and all i see is 7:30, june 20th.  :-\

i did see the outlaws (i think once?) at the kingston fairgrounds in nh with blue oyster cult, foghat, blackfoot was there too i forgot (so that's 3) and john butcher axis. a great outside show!

woulda liked to see the ramones, although i wasn't into them in the day.

i'm thinking i saw the outlaws/blackfoot it was still warm enough to wear a tee shirt but school had started. wasnt the agora just gloriously decrepit? the night the balcony fell to the floor was the death of that place though.

i loved that dive! the second time i went was with an under 21 buddy and the big guy at the door wagged his finger at him warning he'll be booted if he'd caught drinking. remember where the bar was? a straight shot from the entrance and in plain view. we made a bee-line and bought as many bud cans as we could carry.
i only vaguely recall hearing about that balcony thing.

last one for me. this may not be to everyone's taste but this guy is a talent, was seriously sick a while back, and this song always gave me chills.

edit: ok, i give up; i posted these last several the way i always have and i get a url and not a click-able video. nothing i see suggests they disabled links. which wouldn't result in this anyway. infernal machines.  >:(

I can't find a video for the song, but "A Rehearsal" by Lesser Birds of Paradise is really rocking my world, since I heard it on Pandora radio...

In lieu of that, Fleet Foxes, who are a little like a newer Crosby, Stills and Nash. Pretty folky but I'm a startlingly 'folk' kinda girl.

...and for something completely different,
...or maybe not so different...

and tomorrow, too...
