Not sure what I have built here and would like y'alls input.  What would you call it?  Half-cafe, just a lowered 750...

Oh, I am not intending to start a style war if one starts, lol.

Mind y'all, it was finished and driving last weekend but did not like how sticky the throttle was so I have the carbs off to be cleaned this weekend and back on.

First impression is what I would call a "ground hugging cruise missle".  Cafe' simply describes a bike that you would race from Cafe' to Cafe' with your drinking buddies.

We used to call that "street racer" or "digger" style..

 Looks good, I think a 3- 4 in over swingarm would look even better..

Ah yes style wars.  I hate it when the language gets changed, isn't anything sacred?  But maybe it isn't so...

Cafe Racer is by definition a bike that has been modified for performance, both speed and handling. (wickipedia)  If you're going to cram your exhaust into the the pavement on the first gentle right hander you come across, maybe Cafe  Racer doesn't fit. You'll never make it to the next cafe without road rash.

But it seems enthusiasts have shortened cafe racer to just cafe and now that will include shorties, 16" tires, etc. It'll look good in front of a cafe. Just not so good between cafes on a curvy road.  

And yours does look very good BTW, no argument there.

At least that's how I've rationalized it so I don't blow my stack everytime I see a 16" tire on a cafe.    I was raised from the late 60s with cafe racer as a no-compromise performance term. Ground clearance should be increased, not decreased.

"Custom" works good too, but really you've given your bike a look that needs something less generic.

Looks awesome.  Must be tough to ride without scraping the center stand and exhaust on the ground though.  You taking the center stand off?

what ever happened to the term "lowrider" - last I checked that pretty much covered lowered bikes, or does it go invalid once harley uses it for one of their models?

the only thing worse than getting hung up on labels is using the wrong one to describe what you have/are/belong to, etc... just because you want to be included in some group.

it is a pretty motorcycle but it is also very useless beign that low. Somehow I have the feeling you would take offense if I just lumped it in with the "useless" style of bikes. So lets call it a Taint style of bike. Taint one thing, taint the other, but it is between a whole lot of stuff.


(hopefully by now you have realized I am just messing with ya - it is your style of bike and you should call it that).

I'm surprised you can turn with that centerstand still on lol.....or maybe sparking is half the fun  . But that bike is gorgeous. It's nice when lots of hard work pays off. I think it fits in BOTM "style" to me.

Very nice!!! great job I'd call it a street brawler/ pro street- hot rod. What ever you call it, you can simply sum it up as another fine example of a nicely done CB.

I would keep looking at it and could not give it a style.  Well, now I have a few styles to call it.  The closest I could come up with was a half-cafe.  spikeybike referred to chrislib's bike this way and it is somewhat similar. My goal was a short fat mean look that did not cost a years salary.  I think I got it.

Ron, I agree with you on the description 100%.

Yes it is low but don't let the grass fool you too much, it is tall.  If you notice the grass (green shag) comes up to the bottom of the rims.  It is low because my wife is inseam challenged.  This was built for her.

Gonna try and answer some questions.  The sidestand will come off, just need to decide on one of those one handed stands.  Takes a bit to get up on the one it has now.  I had no scraping issues when I rode it.  The bike will most likely not be ridedn as a cafe racer type bike.  The tires are IRC WildFlare 110/90-19 & 130/90-16 purchased through BikeBandit.  The signals do not have yellow bulbs but they will, not interested in the Man telling me they need to be yellow.

Just moving to somewhere else in the area (if it sells, the market is really bad).  Need a bigger house and garage.  Grown out of it.

Some of the styles given were great - Wished I could see them all while posting this, it cuts off.  There is one and the response is PRICELESS.

Geeto, I figured you were messing with me but glad you clarified it, lol.  I am not looking to be in a group, I just had no definate style label I could come up with.  I can totally live with the mix of what I was given.

Someone mentioned a BOTM contender (I can't see the post now).  Thank you, just reading that is an honor.

Thanks again to everyone that posted and that may post again.  This really made my day.  Now I need to mow the lawn for an early home showing in the morning and then tip a few bourbons back.
