1915 Maytag
« on: July 01, 2009, 02:05:50 PM »
It would be fun to put one of these in a scooter !
This engine originally powered a washing machine, of course.

VERY  cool!
Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.

Ger, in May every year, some of us from The Alexandria Seaport Foundation go down to Solomons Island for The Antique Motor and Boat Show.  You need to come with us next year.

I can't see it because, my pc doesn't even have enough memory to download the needed plugin. But, I can visualize what it looks like because at my Granddad's motorcycle shop (started in 1932), there was a rolling frame with a large grinding wheel on it that was powered by, what looke to ME like a Cushman Highlander engine. I thought that was one of those because of the shape of the engine and the way you had to pick up the kickstarter, put your foot on it and push it down quickly. My Dad was quick to inform me that it was actually a "Maytag Washing Machine Engine". I was amazed.
