Would that be Francois Cevert, the first picture I mean ;D, not sure about the second ;) Looks like a Ferrari in the background.

Were you a reporter or just an avid fan? You seem to pull out some cool photos.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

malcomb,
Good call. Yes that's Cevert. Stewart won in the other Tyrrell, of course.
Yes, the Ferrari in back belonged to Regazzoni--Ickx and Andretti were also in Ferraris.

thanks for sharing gerhed, great pix! wasn't the passing of cevert what pushed stewart to retire?

yeah that was a different era. kinda wish i was an adult then rather than 6.  really the best of gp was from '60 to early '70s. the eighties did have the turbos and 90's had senna and a young shuie, though.

keep the pix and stories coming.  8)

Kinda melodramatic but I always liked Grand Prix with James Garner.

I think Stewart was one of the first of the top level drivers to push for safer tracks.
Cevert's car managed to get under the aarmco at Watkins Glen.
You don't want that to happen.

Pic below-Jo Siffert and Pedro Rodriguez at Monaco '71
--both now departed in racing accidents.

i had read the rodriguez brothers were quite remarkable drivers; this reminds me of a desire of mine to further my knowledge of racing history- targa florio, endurance racing of all kinds, can am, and f1. i'm a huge admirer of sir jackie. when he was an up and coming, racing deaths were pretty much commonplace. with his hero and friend jimmy clark dying in '68 and his (jackie) 'shunt' where he ended up chest deep in fuel after a crash, i think that clinched it for him. i think he managed a strike of sorts by the drivers, or a threat of one, which was unheard of then. drivers were considered meat.

great pictures! you have a knack for it.  8)
