Hey guys,

I've got a 75 K5, swingarm bushings are shot.  Partsnmore is out of stock of the 69-75 style, but they have the 76-78.  My question is:  other than the lip on the newer style, are the bushing dimensions the same? I figure I can grind the lip off of the bushing and press it in.  I don't want to order them if they are too different.  Anybody?........ ??? ???

Hondaman can give you a definitive answer, but I think if you go with the later bushings you just omit the plastic endcaps and felt rings from the earlier setup.  No need to grind away the lip.

To verify dimensions, you can compare part numbers for the collar , swingarm bolt, and swingarm from the earlier to later models.  I suspect the dimensions are the same.

To the best of my knowledge it should work.
Better sorry for failing then for the lack of trying.

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone have an extra set of the felt rings and plastic caps that they'd like to get rid of? I'm rebuilding my swingarm right now (pics to come soon) and mine were also destryed. I've got a '72. Might take the bronze bushing route if it works.

C'mon guys!  I need a no bulls**t answer about my original swingarm bushing question: are the old bushings interchangeable with the new ones?  I really don't want to buy the ones from Honda, because they are made of steel.  I want Bronze like the ones in Partsnmore. If all else fails, I shall contact Hondaman for him to work his magic on my swingarm.

I don't have a no b/s answer either, but at least you're not gonna drop $45 to get your swingarm to and from HM.

Hey Mystic,

It's not that I think you guys are b/s'ing me. I tried comparing the part numbers between the models and nothing matches up. I was just trying to see if anyone has tried the newer style bushings in an older style swingarm.  In your previous post you wrote that you "suspect"
thhat the dimensions are the same.   I just wanted to know a "fer sure" answer from the group.

I also said that Hondaman could give you a definitive answer, he's the resident swingarm guru.  Have you emailed or PMed him?

Hey MJL,

I have to say that I have given up on my original question.   I am going to send my swingarm to Hondaman, as soon as I can make time to do so.  I have already emailed him, and he is waiting for it.  You can find his info in the services offered thread, under swingarm rebuilds.  When I get off my overworked butt, and send my swingarm out, I will be happy to tell you how it turns out.
