i just timed my bike and am getting better milage was 25..  but looking up now...  someone said something about brakes dragging... go for a ride dont use the front brake pull over (using the back brake) and feel if it seems hot... i am  just guessing but wouldnt the friction from a dragging brake cause  the disc to heat up?

Yes it would... and I checked it right after I got it back on the road (stone cold) but not recently. Probably not the problem. Maybe I don't have a problem? Why do I need a problem?  ;D
...

sorry if you have alredy said this but whens the last time u timed her? or done the valves?... i noticed a big diference when i did my timing and a sych..

Getting right around the time to change the oil at this point. On the road since late april and I found 2 of my valves were a little loose and a little tight a few months ago. Think I'll replace the points, time it, do the valves and sync the carbs again and see what I get sometime in August.

Thanks for all the replies and interesting comments. My 180 mile ride (until reserve) was mostly two lane highway, pretty flat with a bit of hills. As far as I know, I have no special tuning or parts. Just following the Honda service manual. It was also only the first time that I filled right up and ran until the reserve was needed. I'll have to do it again to double check.

I hit reserve at 75-85 on my 76f. but it takes a lot of physical work and a good eye for police.  I have never gone over 130 on a tank,  still too rich?
slow and steady does nothing.

I have 120 Mains and the 78K has accel pump. I set the pump to come in earlier and the mains make me run a tad rich. The gas lasts a bit longer than my ass on longer runs.
