As promised, from the "Amazing disappearing oil trick" thread, here is a picture of the screen, at the pickup for the oil pump. I don't know, what is your opinion?.......could this be the cause of 1) no oil pressure and 2) no oil being returned to the tank?? Just kidding.

Can you see the boot, or the baseball cap? I think I can see a pair of rabbit ears in there somewhere.

That's pretty amazing. Looks like a landfill from 30,000 feet. Just picked up a pan gasket this weekend so I can clean the screen on the 750 I recently picked up. I'm expecting a mess, but hope it isn't this bad. How many miles since your screen was last cleaned? Any idea?

I have no clue. I bought the bike and spent some fairly big bucks redoing the top-end, including a new head/cam. Little did I know what was lurking down below......freakin' unreal. Hmmmmm, gee.....I can't figure out why there's no oil pressure guys. Oh, now I see.

I think someone left the bottom half of that engine sitting out in the woods for a few years. Either that or the bike was salvaged from the bottom of an outhouse pit.

To me that looks like grounds for a full teardown. If there's that much &^#@ in the oil filter imagine what's in the rest of the bottom end.

Anything magnetic? Looks like a piece of wire there at 9:00....oh, and 12:00, and uh...dead center too. Cigarette filter, locust leaves. How much crud in the pan?

Well - thats amazing for the amount of crap collected and the bike still ran - certainly solves the issue of why won't my oil circulate..

I would pull the oil pump and wash out the sump - it is probably filled with crap too.....

then reinstall and run it for a few minutes with fresh oil and filter -

and if you have oil pressure now -fingers crossed you do - then I would run it for a day - then drop the oil and sump again and check for more crap in the filter screen..

if you find more - then wash it out again - repeat until no more debris is found..

I am just completely shocked at that picture!!! How in the heck could all that crapola get in there without someone intentionally putting it down the oil tank? Sabotage' is what it looks like to me. Looking at the size of some of the stuff in the screen I am wondering how it even found its way into the screen. I agree, drain and clean out the bottom of the oil tank too. I cleaned mine and there will be almost an inch of sludge there. I sure hope the motor did not get damaged on you. Best of luck with it and keep us informed.
