I do have 3" open exhaust ( about 1 foot past the headers) on my Big Block Ford 70 Maverick that I have not started since the gas prices took off. They have never heard it  ;D ;D sounds like a nascar mmmmm thinking, might be a good time to start it right at 7:00 am rev for ten minutes and then shut it down until 15 minutes to 10pm and run until 10 pm. The times are the noise ordinances here. Want to stay completely legal.

Hilbillies and NASCAR.. some might argue it won't work because they'd enjoy the sound... ;D

Gotta love the old SOHC 427, with its 8 foot timing chain. Bill France put the nail in the coffin of it when he demanded of Ford and Chrysler that if they were going to race these things at NASCAR they had to be sold on the street in numbers of 500 or more per year. Ford realized they couldn't justify the cost of the SOHCs and made it an over the counter parts option. Chrysler bit the bullet and detuned the hemi for street service. Went too far in detuning in 1966 and 1967, but with the 284 cam in 1968, it woke it up.

And while not siding with your neighbors in the least, those that cannot appreciate the finer points of automotive/motorcycle collections do have some grounds for concern. I have passed by residences, and know people who live next door to collectors who amass like crazy and allow the stuff to sit and rot. Besides being and eyesore it kills any chance of resale value of all houses in eyeshot, or just plain selling at all. Don't get me wrong, I love and collect bikes and cars like crazy (well not to the level of a few here) but to start a residential junkyard is not good neighbor building.
And I truly hope the idea of the straightpipes at the neighbors was really a joke. No sense stereotyping yourself to the least common denominator for a few percieved laughs.

Ahh yes! But a good neighbor should go to the source with wishes/concerns. We usually point out the flaws in others to cover up our own. Perhaps the neighbor needs a hobby, instead of obsessing. Maybeeee... Motorcycles!!!!! jokem if they cant take a f.......

The big deal is that all of my neighbors have been here for the better part of 10 years. As well as me. We are friends with all of them with exception of the hillbillies that moved in two moths ago. All of my neighbors would come and say something anyway. And the guy down the road does lawnmowers, #$%*e he has like a hundred lawnmowers.

My neighbors next door are just pissed because I call the cops when thier drunken borders stumble through at 2:00 am. Maybe I should just get out there and throw it down with them.

Elcheapo,
even though we'd all like to have it out w/ bad neighbors,
you and I know, violence never works.
But let me know whom throws the 1st punch. ;D

I moved out of the "city " and into the country of Vermont,
where the only people that don't have several non-running
vehicles are rich and can afford to have newer vehicles.

Last year my 65 mc's were next to the road, now I built a
5' berm and am down to 50 mc's, soooo the neighbors from
Mass/Conn/RI and New York City are happier I am sure.
I mean, there must be a reason they no longer drive by at
80 mph.
peace.
Laugh at least once a day.
Life  $ucks, then you die.
You are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts.
God forces us to live with  non-believers to test our resolve.

They slow down to get a better look at my place. I decided to go right to the source. I did not jump to conclusions, I was just looking for answers. I found the hillbilles receptive and informative. Needless to say it was not them that made the call. Lucky me I did not say anything dumb. I really hate making enemies. Afterall it was thier dog barking that alerted me to the last would be thief. My dogs slept right through it. I mentioned the dunks stumbling through the front yard at the wee hours of the morning. This guy looked at his buddies and said in true Donny Baker fashion "You guys stumble through his yard again and I'll kick your asses, I swear to God I will"... All is good with those neighbors now.... Really they dont make much fuss normally except for the occasional drunkeness. Never hear them fighting anyway.... Besides they would kick the crap out of anyone stealing anything from anyones yard just for entertainment purposes.

Through a slip of the tongue from a homer simpson type cop (the only kind we have) here I found out that it was a city council member. Not sure why I didn't think of crooked government first. I ran for city council a few years back and I can tell you there was a lot of mud slinging to say the least.

I moved 4 bikes out and cut up the remaining parts and bits of one. Enough crap today. All is good with the neighbors that matter.
