newfound respect for my CB750
« on: July 09, 2009, 03:23:58 PM »
so I just got back from my 2500 mile round trip to Laguna-seca for the motogp.rode the coast the whole way down.101 to 1 from legget Ca all the way san Fran. What a road,I cannot tell you how amazing it was.My trusty old bike kept up with all the newer nicer bikes I was riding with, even scraped the pegs and muffler(didnt know I had it in me)I heard about this legendary road for years, but unless you experience it for yourself you will never know.I dont need a shiny new bike,I just need to rebuild the front end to make it handle better.this wAs all with the original fork oil and bearings.I took a chance and my bike never let me down.when I revved her up past 5500 and above she took off like a freight train.I LOVE MY BIKE!!!!I highly reccomend this road for all who have the means.

tank bags are nice, but what a pain when it comes to fuel time. huh.  enjoy the front end rebuild, it is worth it.

I dont get this....magentic tank bags just pull to one side...easy....and if its clipped on...unlcip and pull to one side...where is the hassle?  ::)  ;)

Bikerbart -nice photos and bikes looking good! Glad you are having fun with it! Get some progressive fork springs up front and some new fork oil and you will feel a world of difference...

I have done Route 1 from SF to Eureka and you are right - a road not to be missed! Excellent stuff!

cheers
Andy

started from bellingham Wa.I think my odometer reads 2474 when I pulled in my driveway. My bike needs a serious detailing now.had to buy new tires while in monteray Ca.that rt.1 just ate up my old ones.Sad to see what the recession has done to a lot of the small coastal towns on the coast.

All I remember was that they were dunlops.Had em waaaaaay too long,5 years,16,000 miles. It was long overdue,I took a chance riding down but didnt want to chance highway 1 on the way back.unfortunately the ones I bought dont match, bridgestone and dunlop, but beggers cant be choosers, they were the only ones available to me 3:30 pm on a sat afternoon in Monteray Ca.I was lucky to have found any at all.

Ahhh, I was thinking they were fairly new or you're just a corner carving mofo  ;D

I'll be happy to see 10000 out of my D404's before I flatten out the center ::)

I AM A CORNER CARVING MOFO!!!!After that road,I want more.definetely next year, hopefully with a fully rebuilt front end,or better yet a front end from an early gl1000(fatter forks, twin discs)As I stated ,I was eating the rear tire of my buddies concourse.I also saw a poor sob on a brand new Ducati 1098 go down and the bike went 30 yards down a cliff and wrapped around a tree.He was totally fine other than shock.16 grand down the cliff.(obviously he was fully insured)
