« on: July 14, 2009, 01:25:32 AM »
Anyone know why when i loosen my bolts to set my 1.4 timing the bulb goes out? I cant turn the plate when they are tight. The bolt are not so loose they are not making contact. Is this normal?

Im using static timing.

Sure.
The spring pressure is always trying to open the points.  Loosen the plate and the points spring moves the plate so the light goes out.  Lots of plates are smaller than the retention posts machined out of the motor casting.

There's a post in the FAQ about shimming the plate during adjustment.
