whitewall tires?
« on: July 14, 2009, 11:01:23 AM »
Having a difficult time finding a whitewall tire for my '78 750k rear wheel.  No problem with the front 100/90-19, but nobody seems to make the rear 130/90-17.  Any suggestions?

Buy a Harley and be sure to pay too much.  ;)

some of the skinnier harley tires are meant to be used as fronts or backs, you have to read the sidewall and look for one that has a bi-directional tread.

I did find a Dunlop (Harley) 140/80-17 whitewall, but I think that might be too wide for the stock rear wheel?

Seems like there are more options for the 16inch rear wheel.....wonder if a 16 from an earlier year CB 750 would be a direct fit (without modification) to the '78 swingarm?

10mm more is under 0.5 inch.
I think the chain clearance is what you have to worry about there.

there are no 16" earlier honda rims - they are 16" harley laced to a honda hub (kinda common). Harleys are usually 16" so it makes sense that the large number of tires to fit them are 16".

Stupid microsoft closed their shopping section...

So it won't work for you.

I'm currently working with another forum member to correct that.

I'll post info later tonight.
