Getting pipes Jet Hot coated, should I remove the collector?

Title says it all. I'm sending the header pipes on my 550 out to get them coated with Jet Hot sterling (they're still solid, but the chrome is all but gone), and I'm thinking that if I don't remove the header pipes from the collector, the pipes are so close to each other the coating will stick in between and look like crap. I tried to (gently) pull the pipes out of the collector, but they're on there pretty good. Are there any tricks to removing the headers from the collector? Should I bother?

I haven't done this for header-collector, but I've separated a muffler and collector by spraying in a bunch of liquid wrench then using a bit of twisting motion, back and forth, when pulling it apart. I think I had a strap wrench (for car oil filters) on the muffler to get some twisting leverage.

Try a little heat on the outer part of the connection along with some light taps from a block of wood and twisting to see if you can break the (probably) rusty bond.  A propane torch should do the trick.
