So I chopped the rear fender today. Been meaning to for quite some time. Also got the front caliper pulled off and ready for a rebuild. Posted my first YouTube video of the bike starting up. Here is the link. Check it out and let me know what you think. I say the idle is a bit noisy, but the rev sounds killer. Do all these old engines have a 'tick tick tick' sound when they idle?

Hey there IndyRacer.  Haven't seen you on here for quite some time.  Glad to see you have your bike ready to go....looks and sounds great!

Hit me up if you're ever up for a ride.  I'm on the East side near Irvington.

If you haven't checked it out yet, there's a SOHC "World Tour" coming through Indiana sometime later this spring (May?).  I'm sure there will be a good group of us riding as part of that.

Ride safe out there.

Hey Chris, ya work is hecktic as always, so I don't get on here much. Ya, I'm up for riding with a small group anytime. Give me a shout next time you're going. I check the INDYVINMOTO goole group daily to see what is up. If you're not already on there, I suggest it.

Below are some more bike pics. I finally got FRONT BRAKES. Makes a huge difference. No more engine breaking half a mile from a stoplight...not to mention the safety factor. Still need to add a paint scheme to the flat black. Going black and white, with a tribal design in mind. Adding front signals and a control panel on the dash to keep track of my tach, speedo, and some other bike metrics.  The plan is to fabricate them in my shop, then wire a microcontroller up and see what kind of coolness can be created.

Another video of a startup. Notice the bike is cold and chokes a bit. I've found once it gets warmed up, the rpm's creep higher and higher at idle. Is this normal? After riding it for a bit, it sounds mean, but sounds like a kitten when it is cold. Not sure where that "oil" came from I referred to in the vid. Haven't seen it since.

Yeah I saw your message on the Vinmoto board and thought that might be you.  So you rode down to Story?  How was the trip?  Some nice roads down that way for sure.  I would have joined you (I just a few blocks from the Steer Inn) but couldn't make it that morning.  Next time for sure, though.  I got out on Sunday afternoon for a ride between Franklin and Martinsville (SR44) that's a pretty decent road that's not far from Indy.

If you're ever up for a ride, give me a shout.

I noticed the idle issue with mine, it turns out its because of the pods, exhaust change etc. If you can sync your carbs, and maybe move up a jet size. You may at times have to blip the throtle when its cold however when she's warm it will idle like a dream.

Hey guys, work has been crazy, thus the lag in replies.

IndyFour: The ride to Story that day was cold and windy. I found out that I don't like to ride when it is less than 63 degrees outside. Also found out that there is a reason most people have a full face helmet. The wind burn the next day wasn't pretty.
Besides the wind, cold, and constant snottage (don't ride with a cold), it was an excellent stretch of road. Ya, I hear ya on the road
between Franklin and Martinsville. That road is excellent. I also appreciated the road between little Nashville and Story. It too was pretty intense. Found out that clubman bars make muscles I didn't know I had hurt after about an hour of riding. All in all, a great ride.

Scott: Thanks for the advice. Funny you mention the carb sync. One of my buddies just listened to the bike last night and recommended
I sync the carbs. It's on the to-do list.

As for this bike, I'm pulling off both guages and going with the one tach. I acquired some scrap stainless with a 626
brushed finish, so I'm crafting that into a small dashboard/mount for the tach. Adding a LCD for the speedo.
