Thanks - I'm jealous of your attention to detail.

The previous owner who started the modifying process on the bike put those front brakes on. They will stop the bike like nobody's business. I even pulled a "steve mcqueen in the great escape" with the back brake yesterday just goofin off. The only problem: try as I might .. I cant get the front brakes to stop squeaking. New pads, new rotors, new pads again ... AARRRRGGHHHH!!

Thanks to Ecosse for putting those pics up for me, my pc crashed and it's been a mission to get it sorted out again. I'll take some finished pics tomorrow. I started it up for the first time last week in I can't remember how many years. Just need a new front tyre and that's it I think. Hopefully having one brought out from the states next week.

A bit of background about my little Honda four. I bought it new in 1975 in the Uk and then shipped it to SA around 78/79, it's been through a few different styles over the years but I think this build is going to be it's last..!
A few details of the build:
Motor:
Yoshimura 466cc piston kit.
Fully ported cyl head/valves Kibblewhite valve springs TTR Ti retainers. Black heat dispersant ceramic coating.
Fast road/race webcam.
Fully balanced crank,rods,pistons etc. undercut gearbox, barnett clutch, Dyna ignition.
Many of my own TTR machined parts. Melba 70's wheels. Carbon fibre fenders. Exhaust header is from SS performance from the 70's that I have had ceramic coated. Bored out stock carbs.

Kevin makes some quality parts.... I have a beautiful set of his preload adjusters on mine...was going to save them for my next project, but just figured I'd use them on this one until I ready for them on the "racey" bike. You should have seen it before I fixed it up. Was kind of tedious, but what a difference it made. Fresh paint and a little bake in the oven and it's as good as new. good for a weekend project...

I've also been wanting to see more pics and info. That is, to see a little more interaction between the contestants and the voters. Referring to a build thread is not much fun for us voters. $:-\$

Ok, I'll throw some more pics & info out there...
Bike was purchased for $400 about a year ago - complete, but not running. All the work was done by myself with one exception - powdercoating which luckily, was given to me by a vendor I send a bunch of work to. I've replaced the wheel bearings, steering bearings and swingarm bushings. Had to purchase new coils, wires and an ignition plate. Found a reproduction seat for $100 + shipping from Japan and couldn't be happier with the look and quality of it. Pipes were the big purchase, last November when the British pound was taking a beating, I was able to get them to my door for just under $675. Everything else was scrounged, re-used, and mainly cleaned and cleaned some more and then painted and cured in my oven when the wife wasn't looking. Painted the tins myself in a homemade paint booth (EZ-up 10x10 awning with plastic sheeting wrapped around it.)
All the engine covers were polished on my trusty sears buffer. Made new gaskets for them from sheet gasket material from the auto parts store. Most parts on these bikes can look horrible and turn out brand new looking. I refinished the handlebar controls and idiot lights - that was tedious and probably my least favorite of my projects, but it made the biggest difference. All in all, I'd say I have about $1700 spent, and who knows how many elbow grease hours....

This site gave me more than enough information and inspiration to keep things going. I am grateful to all. These bikes are really fun and quite a rewarding experience. The only thing I ever wanted after lurking around this site for a while, was to somehow get a bike nominated for BOTM. I can't begin to tell you guys how happy I am to be included in such fine company. Thanks again. Here's some more random photos....

Saw bgfootball67's bike in person today at mid-ohio, and was pretty impressed with it!the x pipe exhaust system is cool. Only thing i'd do different about his bike would be adding Rearsets.

Greenjeans, i love the look of your bike, are those firestone tires? Where did you purchase them from?

Thanks and I dunno about metal vs fiberglass. Never had fiberglass parts on a bike. I bought a metal one due to my concern with longevity and IF I lay it down, will it hold up. Painted fiberglass (cars) dont seem to hold their shine and you'll see spiderweb cracking in the paint after time. That and the "will it come apart if I low side?" question that plays in my head all the time. I know Benjie recommends you use a metal tail section if you plan to relocate the battery under the seat - for better strength maybe?

heh ... some times I do wake up in frantic state of mind, run down to the garage and turn on the lights ... just to make I havent been dreaming. "Ahhhhhh ..."

Every now and then - at some point in your life - all the stars line up making things feel perfect. The problem occurs when you get the insurance bill for a Ducati. Not sure how long I can afford to ride the stupid-expensive thing.
