75 750 K5 Clutch Slipping
« on: July 24, 2021, 01:10:44 AM »
Hi I have a 1975 CB750 K5 with 41000 miles the clutch slips at higher rpms under load. Pretty sure the clutch needs replaced.

I plan on replacing plates disks and springs, but I'm curious which usually goes first plates disks or springs?

Which is the correct OEM style for the K5 for the friction disks straight or slant cut? (Photos below)

Do I need this Honda clutch removal tool socket to remove clutch (photo Below)

Any recommendation for a clutch kit? I'm thinkings Yamiya DSS  or Cycle X

You use motorcycle oil?
When I used car oil (Mobil 1) in the late 80's it slipped when gearing to 5th during and lots of throttle.

I tested CycleX fiber plates.  Dragging clutch even after been parked a night only.

Cruzinimage clutch fibers are cheap and work fine.
On my stock K2 with 58whp and earlier on my K6 with 836 and 80whp.

To do the job right yes you need the tool, it can be butchered off and on but you cant guarantee how tight it is. Lots of people regret fitting heavier springs as it makes pulling the lever harder, as to plates ive no idea. Doesnt seem a particulatr high mileage for clutch to be worn out have you done the adjustments?

I believe the square cut disks are correct. But I think @hondaman would have the definitive opinion.
