A very complete Honda Davidson that is thankfully still mostly Honda. ;D

I was told it was an F0 by the PO, but I haven't run the frame serial number yet. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an F1. I was also told the motor was a 1976 F replacement but the serial number there (CB750E-3009126) didn't match up to the charts on-line. I got 1978 with a 630 chain and no black paint, so K model?

There hasn't been much time to investigate from Sunday until now, but I plan on tracing some history.

I am trying to sort out the F2 wiring harness. Few questions:

1. What is on the left and right handlebar control switch?  I assume right is Start/Stop and left is turn and horn but where is headlight and hi/low switch?

2. Anybody has a better diagram than the one from here: http://www.cmsnl.com/classic-honda-fansite/wiring_diagrams.php  Those colors are off - for example look at the wires coming out of the Main switch.  The diagram shows black, red, red, red, brown/white, but in reality it is black, red, brown, brown, brown/white.   And left turn signal is red wire on diagram and orange in the harness.

Thanks!

The right control has the start switch and the kill switch. The left control has the horn switch the hi/lo headlight and the turn signal switch. For a good wiring diagram look in the FAQ section of the forum I think. I would link you but I'm on my phone, sorry.

I have followed this thread with envy while riding my mighty 550. It comes with great pleasure to announce my new acquisition...

A 1975 CB750F!! 8)

Bought it in Maine this past weekend. Gentleman rode with Harley guys so the bike is dressed in a Vetter decked out in leather bags and American eagle decals.

Maybe you could sell that seat back to the Harley guys or any Harley wannabes'.

Certainly isn't my cup of tea. I've started stripping the bike of its more recent, confused past but doubt I'll get much for that "special" seat. I can cut you a good deal??

I'm not trashing anything and do plan on putting most take-offs up for sale. Unfortunately I don't think there is any genuine Harley stuff, but we'll see how it goes. I assume I'll have the best luck with the leather saddle bags and rear bag.

To the guys with F2/3 bikes with PD carbs:  how far out do you have your pilot screws?

Reason i ask is because in the clymer it says that the starting point is 1 3/4 turns out when tuning, but my bike has a terrible flat spot coming off idle all the way out to about 3 1/2-3 3/4 turns.  Idles great, but you cant give it any gas, it sputters and tries to die.  It has stock air box, no engine mods that i am aware of... but who knows really, havent had it apart other than had the cam out.  It has stock HM410 exhaust with the baffle missing off the end (and no i dont have it, currently looking to buy one if anyone has a lead on one.)

It runs great with the screws out that far, and the plugs look good to me, but my concern is that they are a little loose and will rattle their way out, even though it is another 4 or so turns to get them out.

Should i up my main jets from 105 to 110?  I do have a set.  Or, should i just run it as is, because that is normal and my manual is wrong?  Any other reasons the mixture would need to be richened up that much, potential engine mods i may not know about?

I have been riding it like this for some time and havent had any problems, but i figured i would ask, because i have it in "shop mode" right now before the riding season starts here, so if i'm going to do anything about it, now is the time.

Any ideas or input appreciated.  Thanks as always guys.

Off idle flat spot? Sounds like the accelerator pump is not working properly.. Give the throttle a twist (with the air filter off) and check if you can see fuel squirting..

Great Idea Cudjo. Your keeping yours now.... right?
Bought my 77 f stock last august and this is what it looks like today. Waitting to change a couple more things. Changing the front MC, -1" front fork tubes, progressive springs, shorter brake lines f & r, shorter clutch and throttle cable. Its getting a headlight make over as we speak with a triumph headlight switch. Its been a great project and kept me busy over the winter.

Love your bike. I had a new 75 (in 75!) that i loved. I have had Harleys ever since. I am new to the forum just trying to get some ideas because the bug has hit me hard to own one again. Nice job.

Thanks for quick response david.

Admittedly, i know nothing about the accelerator pump or how it works.  All i know about it is it is attached to the number 2 carb.  Could you please explain what/how it does and why you think that could potentially be causing my problem?  Just trying to learn.

Thanks

I just posted in the WTB section, but I figure I could take a shot here where the F-ers like to hang...

Does anyone have an extra headlight mounting collar kicking around? I'm short by one and without any availability from Honda, I am on the used parts search. The collar is a metal tubular piece with a flat washer top that attaches the headlight mount to the top tree. These were only used in 1975 and 1976...

It is item #22 in the image below. Thanks.

Here is my 78F.  Need recommendations to repair/replace muffler.  Also what paint are you using on the engine as I have some worn spots with the aluminum showing through.

Thanks,

Rob

I appreciate that John, but I believe the inside is threaded to accept the both coming through the tree. I've got a few leads that I am trying to track down also. Hopefully we can catch up soon. The bike is getting closer and closer to being roadworthy.
