Looks a little better in the picture than it is.  Haven't tried to get it running yet, but so far it's tires, brake pads (maybe brake pistons), air filter, tank has some significant dents, shift lever, wiring contacts needs to be cleaned up, new seat cover.   Still, the engine turns and it's mostly all there.

G'Day Mick, how are you mate, where the "F" have you been lately, I haven't seen you in ages? Cheers,  Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Here's my 750F. It's a '77 I got on Ebay, has an 836 kit and MAC 4/1. Head and base gaskets were leaking, so I pulled the Head and cylinder, and found a standard 736 head gasket in place! Got a new gasket set for an 836, put the base and cylinder on, then, for reasons I will not go into, it sat for ten years. Now, I have to remove the cylinders again as I have some rust issues, and they need a re-hone. The previous owner had almost everything but the engine cases, cylinders, and head chromed, obviously by a shop that did not know what they were doing, as there is no copper nor nickel substrates, just chromium right on aluminum. Needless to say, it is peeling and corroding. Everything chrome is going black powder coat. I am re-doing my '78K right now, and as soon as that is done, I will start on this beast. My plan is to make a sort-of endurance racer that never existed. It will have a CR750 fairing and tail, but with twin headlights off of a Yamahaha FZ600 I used to have. I want to do a CR750 tank as well, and make it myself, but after seeing some of the other bikes on this thread, I may stick with the stock tank. I want that stretched out look a CR750 tank gives, but I am liking the way the stocker looks with a rounded tailsection. I'm going to ditch the stock peg plates and such, and go with rearsets and clip-ons. Here's some pics;

With the K rear rim on so I can move it around.I'll be ditching that Corbin Gunfighter seat, most likely.

Cylinder rust! And crappy chrome and stupid looking finned cover on the alternator housing.Engine guards to be binned as well.

Crappy Chrome!

Hey Gonzowerke, if you do end up getting rid of that seat let me know.  I have been looking for a lower cut seat to put on my F.

I like to use sites like bikebandit to cross reference different parts and models. I'd bet you cannot mix the k and f transmissions.

Agreed, bikebandit or motogrid.com microfishies tell the tale.

If I were to guess, I'd say the K & F trannies are the same up to and including 76. Then you have changes, though maybe not to 2nd gear.

This came up on another thread recently.  4th and 5th gear on the F are different than the K......or is it that 4th and 5th are different on the K. ;D

K 4th 1.097:1   5th 0.939:1
F 4th 1.133:1   5th 0.969:1

I have not been through all 32 pages of this thread, but I figured this is a good place to ask....

I need some good side-view and maybe 3/4 views of the F gas tank stripes. Not sure what all years they came on, but I know the '78 750F Super Sport had the style of stripe I'm interested in.
I need some good pics to show my painter.

Scott,

75 & 76 have one style with different colors for each tank color then 77 & 78 had stripes like you see in the previous post.

750F thread?
« Reply #798 on: May 20, 2012, 09:00:20 AM »
Hi guys, great thread.  Can anyone give me a measurement for the inside-to-inside width of an F swingarm, where the axel is?  Preferably a 75/76 750F.

I am trying to complete a basket case cafe racer project which came to me with an F frame (and mostly K components).  Not knowing much about these bikes at the time I had assumed it was an F swingarm.  But the wheel is pretty tight (requires some swingarm stretching to get it on) and now it's been confirmed the it's actually a K swingarm.  I have both a K and F axel and sure enough the F is a bit longer so I'm expecting the F swingarm is a bit wider as well.  Just want to confirm before I go out and buy one.

Thanks!

Swingarm width 75/76 CB750F with bushings in place is 9" or 230mm. That is bushing edge to bushing edge.

Axle

78 k550 has a 75/76 F swingarm if you need one. I need another F axle like the one in the picture if anyone has one to part with.
