any experience with non stock headlights (550s)...
« on: April 19, 2005, 01:32:20 PM »
greetings,
i'm curious if any of you has experimented with fitting a non stock headlights...  i just swapped clubman bars for clip-ons ( '74 550)and things got somewhat tight around the headlight. i'm using 750 master cylinder and the bolt sits right on the shell now...
i could pull it out half an inch or so but i wondered if a different shape headlight could work here as well.

hi tomasz, don't see why you can't use any shape or size headlight as long as it fits your headlight brackets and you can tuck your wires out of the way   mick.

Really as long as you stay in a certain wattage and voltage range, you can use anything you like. A headlight is a headlight. But if you go smaller, then you may want to look at one of the blue style lights or a slightly higher wattage to make up for the difference.

I fitted an aftermarket 5-1/2" headlight to my 550, and used aftermarket chrome ears to do it. The stock ears could do it, if you used spacers between the ears and the headlight to make up the difference in size.
