I'd be afraid of water getting into the cylinders through an open exhaust valve and ruining my engine when I try to start.

Hard to do on a stock exhaust car. Not much goes past the cat. Which will then plug up. Which will heat your intake through the EGR system. Which will kill everything.  ;D
