old overtightened wingnuts on the airbox

Hey guys,

I have a very newb question, but I guess if you don't ask, you don't learn.   ???  I have a recently-acquired cb750 K3 that probably hasn't had the air filter changed in a while.

The problem is that the 2 wingnuts on the bottom seem to be way overtightened, and the actual wings themselves are soft and pretty easy to bend.  I tried using a very small amount of liquid wrench & a pair of channel locks, attempting to get it across the whole wingnut.  However, it's a difficult angle, and I didn't want to break any of the wingnut.

I looked around for any ideas, but it's possible my searching skills/common sense are lacking.  :P  Maybe I just need to try it again on a different day - but if anyone has a good suggestion, I'm all ears.  Thanks

No getting around it, at some point u gotta grab the bull by the horns and turn those wingnuts. Try to get a grip on both wings at same time w/ a pliers/channelocks/vicegrips and just do it.
