Minnesota advice
« on: November 20, 2005, 01:37:50 PM »
I'm flying out to the Twin Cities then driving down to Rochester MN for the Thanksgiving holiday and am wondering if anyone can point out any points of interest?  Good eats or museums, bike salvage yards...  On the map it looks like a pilgramage to Aerostich in Duluth is a bit too far of a hike, but thats good, I'll save money...

Have fun while your here...maybe the weather will hold out here, in the 40's now!  Duluth is about 3 hours north from the cities, which I assume you are flying into minneapolis/st paul.  There are a few bike salvage yards in Jordan, just south of the cities, I know Sport wheels in particular.  From what I have been told (never been there) there is a lot of good stuff, but don't call because they will just tell you they don't have it.  As far as everything else, there is alot, so I guess it would depend on what you are into.

Thanks Brockj.  Just wondering what the locals do.  Is there any local food speciality or beverage worth finding to reward friends who are watching our house while we are gone.  Hate to say it but I am locked into going to the Mall of America on Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year.

Oh now I really feel for you :o
That place is busy enough on a regular day. Fridays are bad and the biggest shopping day to boot?!!! You must be going with a woman!

Eldar is right.  Paybacks are hell, but I get to keep my old motorcycle a bit longer a bit longer...

Hmmm...specialty food, I know we are known for wild rice, makes a damn fine soup....other than that, not much I can think of now.  Mall of America...whew, have fun with that one!  I work right down by there, but fortunately won't be there on Friday!
