well it turned out to not be a good day for peaches :[
I wetsanded my clear today.  Then hit it with rubbing compound, then polishing compound, then swirl remover, then finally waxed and buffed it.  I was looking SO nice.
Well, I had to mow today :[  Normally no problem but today, I'm riding along and hear BAM, then a noise that could best be described as a "zing", I see something out of the corner of my eye and I see SOMETHING flying toward the house, and worse yet, toward the bike, sure enough, whatever it was hit the tank :[  I almost cried, I LITERALLY got nauseous. Well, it WAS looking good :[  sorry about all the compound in the gas cap area that I still need to clean out.

Touch it up and lay stripes.

That really suck, man.

A few thin coats of touch up let dry a light wet sand and then some clear let dry wet sand polish and you will not even be able to see it.

I touched it up with some primer, then the base and then some clear.  Its really hard to match the metallic, I guess I'll let it sit for a bit and see what happens.

Keep at it Poomwah, the bike is looking great!  However, you need to cut your relationship with Murphy... and his horrible laws!!!!!

The shifting pattern should not be a problem, my V7 Sport is the same way, and I find switching between it and the other bikes no problem (after a few unintentional down shifts, that is!!!)

How is the brake side coming?

I might just strip the tank down and start over, thinking about putting knee "cut-outs" in it.  But what do you guys think of the orange?  should I leave it plain, or should I add something?  maybe the classic cafe checkered stripe down the center of the tank.

I just joined here too. I have been around these bikes all my life. I just found a 73 sitting in a garage for 6 years. Cleaned up good. Even the paint came out good.

Yea close. You want some thing to finish off the paint but not cover it or take way from it. Its a great color with nice sparkle you really don't want to loose that. Its a good start. Perhaps good elegant lettering on the side?

thanks zaipai,
      its spray cans :]
I was thinking about the stripes on top to help with the cover up for the gouge
I've been toying with the idea of an old style honda wing on the side of the tank

Yea, I like the wing, not sure why they ever gave that up. If you can find the right color it would be perfect I think.

Nice job on the can paint job.. wish mine turned out that good..
