Advanceing timing and plug temps
« on: July 23, 2009, 03:47:56 PM »
I just advanced my timing in my k5 by 15 degrees. I read that this will increase my plug temp by 70-100 degrees Celsius. That seems like a lot. Im already running d7ea plugs do I need to switch them for something else to handle this extra 100 degrees of temperature?

The higher number is a COLDer plug so try a D8EA.

Wow, that's a lot of timing (unless you advanced it from previously being retarded).  Where is your initial spark set?   Is the motor stock?

Yea, I'd probably run an 8 though.
