I just am finishing my street rat made from 72-76 ? cb750 leftover parts from my restoration and when I put the gas tank on (many hours of candy blue) the petcock is hitting the carb lifter linkage (right side petcock. I believe the tank and frame to be from a 72-76 but am not sure. Any thoughts or suggestions. I have way too many hours on this paint job to get a new tank. Thanks
I have discovered that there are miniscule differences between frames and gas tanks in the K series. I thought they were all the same but nooo...
Try a shim in the rear to lift the tank a tad. Don't know how much you need and that won't give you much. I ran without the rear of the tank in the rubber at all, but sitting on top of it. The seat will keep it in place.
More serious surgery would include modifying the horshoe shaped mounts in the front and put a shim under them as well.
