Finally! Running like a champ.
« on: July 25, 2009, 10:44:34 AM »
As some of you guys know, I've gone through all sorts of stuff with this bike.  I'm the one that found an extra 5 pounds of debris clogging my oil pump (immediately after a top-end rebuild  >:().  Then, I had the problem where it had ZERO power under load (immediately after a "professional tune")...etc. etc. etc. etc.

Well at the end of the day,  I  disconnected all the leads to and from the coils; then reattached them.  I then cleaned all the plugs (for the 50th time) and fired it up.  All was well  on the kickstand.  So far so good.  That was last night.

Well, I just took it out for a run.....and it's running smooth and perfect.  All throttle levels, all rpms, and pulls like an ape from 6k - 9k.     ;D

thanks for all the help.   All along, it looks like the problem was bad connections at the coils.

You know, I'll mention one other thing, that definitely threw me off.  Of course, I am not that experienced; so, this may be well known to everyone else.

Spark plug wires-  if #1 is not grounded, #4 WILL NOT fire.  So, if a boot is ill-connected to the wire, not only will that cylinder have a problem but so will it's coil partner.  This is also a possibility in my case.  I did re-attach all the boots in conjunction with re-connecting all the coil leads.   It's something to keep in mind, or add to the list things to check when 2 cylinders cut out.  My $.02
