Annother new guy
« on: July 26, 2009, 08:47:57 AM »
I just picked up a free 1972 CB500 from a friend...it is a little more than a basket case...outside for a long time, parts missing, engine wont turn over.  Frame and forks look straight.  Otherwise I wont know much more until I get it apart.  I will look to this site for some help if you all do not mind.   I am half-way retired, and also have a nice GB500 and a 2007 BMW F800S.  Hope to make a sort-of cafe out of the CB.  Where are the best places to look for parts?(I should have made Mid-Ohio but could not get the time).  Thanks for the great site.

Well Welcome, where you get parts largely depends on what parts, for most engine and ignition parts I head to .: Cycle-Re-Cycle Online Catalog:. here is the link... http://crc2onlinecatalog.com/ great parts at a good price. As for other parts, some will have other links, I have mostly bought on ebay, however now that I am on this site, I am finding all sorts of links to online parts stores. However so far I have only ordered from Cycle-Re-Cycle, so can only recommend them for right now. My CB550 is coming along nicely but still need lots of parts next winter when I really get to fixing it up. This is a great place for info, if you do a search I find the best results if I search from the home page of the forums.

GL and pictures would be nice! We love pictures here.. ;-)
