Insurance in UK
« on: July 27, 2009, 01:15:29 AM »
Just got my renewel through for my 550K3 from Carole Nash Up from £120 to £129.

I did a comparison and found offers starting at about £70 - BUT - much higher excesses around £500 instead of the Carole Nash £25, no agreed value, no EU breakdown / recovery and a few other disadvantages.

I called CN and told them I had been hunting around and got better prices so my £129 was immediately reduced to £80 with no changes to the policy.

40% discount for a 3 minute call. Time well spent.....

I use CN and use a little "trick" each renewal. When their renewal comes through it's always a bit more than the competition but as you say the policy terms and benefits are much better with CN such as the agreed value etc. I got talking to one of their representatives and he said that renewals are necer as competitive as new quotes because new quotes are often loaded with an underwriter benefit to hook in a new customer. So, I get a brand new quote through their website each time a renewal comes through - result is the same great policy but usually cheaper than the renewal quote...not bad for a few mouse clicks!  ;D
