OK, back on track for just a moment men, the box arrived yesterday and as I suspected, he'd sent it surface. I paid him 21.95 US for shipping (I think that's about 26.00 Canadian) and the actual shipping charge on the box was $6.85 Canadian, or $5.85 US! Just as an aside, the correct Canadian airmail shipping rate from their website is $13.40 Canadian, or $11.46 US, so I'd actually paid him almost TWICE the airmail charge, and he still sent it surface!

Needless to say I emailed him and told him what I think of him, and threatened ("threatened" is such a nasty word, maybe I should have said "advised"?) to leave him bad feedback and contact all his bidders to tell them what a creep he is while they still have enough time to cancel their bids, if he didn't refund the $15.10 he overcharged me, and gave him 24 hours to make up his mind.

This morning I checked my email, and there it was, a paypal "Youve got cash" mail from him for $15.10. He also replied to my email with "Ok Ok, tough it will cost more then that. My fault. You dont need to do menace to make me recognize my fault you know." I guess that was some kind of half-assed apology with a "don't rub it in" thrown in for effect?

I really don't care about the cash, I get "ripped" quite frequently on international shipping from EBay sellers, and I know from personal experience that it's easy to do quite accidentally, but what bummed me out with this transaction was the fact that he's lied to me and sent the item surface, while all along taking the high tone, when he knew he was in the wrong. So, case closed? I haven't left him any feedback at all yet, what do you guys suggest I do? Cheers, Terry.
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

In these instances I leave Neutral feedback, so long as the part is "as advertised" and restitution's been made." Happy that I got the part" + "Pissed that the seller made me force him to do the right thing"=Neutral

"extra 60 days to receive due to incorrect shipping.Restitution made. Thanks!" or something like that. Sure beats the usual rants one finds in the Negative section(CHEAT,LIAR,this ASSHAT will take yer $$$$$ and ship garbage.BEWARE!!!)   Damn glad ya can't leave feedback on my shipping,Terry :D

Thanks Sean, I like the "extra 60 days to receive due to incorrect shipping.Restitution made. Thanks!" idea, i might just use that! I'd never complain about your shipping mate, after all, you're doing me a favour! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Well Terry, the guy was fair about refunding the $$. However openly lying about how it was shipped is another thing. I guess because I got my money back at this point I would keep feedback to the condition of item, was it as described?

Trust me if I am over on your shipping for the K1 gauges Terry, you will be getting the change back  ;D and not because of this post.

According to eBay and Paypal, if a seller accepts Paypal as payment not only are they required to send the item via an online trackable shipping method, but the item must get to the buyer within 30 days.  The feedback you leave should reflect your feeling on the entire transaction, not just the condition of the item.  Considering the fact that this guy did not follow the guidelines he agreed to by accepting Paypal, and flat out lied to you about the shipping method, I'd seriously consider leaving him negative feedback.  That's saying a lot, too, since I've never left a negative in my seven years on eBay.

Well I took Sean's advice and did the "60 days wait due to shipping misunderstanding, but seller made restitution" thing, I was tempted to leave him at least neutral feedback, but I didn't want retalitory negative feedback and he did pay back the difference, so I suppose I've done the right thing. I don't like leaving negative feedback either, and the part was in useable condition, so I suppose I should just turn the other cheek? Cheers, Terry. ;D

I don't think the liability issues are of a major concern.  There are plenty of websites on the net where people post stories about crooked merchants.  I don't see a problem with posting accounts of transactions gone bad including the name of the merchant.  I should probably put a disclaimer up on this board anyway to the effect that the postings here are owned by whoever posted them and the management of this website are not responsible for them in any way.

All I'd ask is that anyone posting a complaint about a merchant post the details of the transaction.  If you do get rooked by some SOB, please let us all know and save others the misery.

Thanks.

I have noticed, but there's a way around the space limitation.  Once you've left the feedback, you can go back and leave a follow-up remark that allows you much more space than the original feeback.  As a side note, I have two different eBay identities, one for buying, and one strictly for selling.  That way, in the event I should need to leave negative feeback for a seller, I won't have to worry about a retaliatory negative screwing up my I.D. for selling.  Once I got a decent amount of feedback on my original I.D., I turned that one into my selling only one, and started a new one for buying.

Gordon,
That is very clever. So, when we see someone has a 100% feedback we need to check that is items they have sold and not just items they bought! I don't always look.
