Getting Wet on the way to Sturgis today...............
« on: July 28, 2009, 07:52:01 PM »
I'm sitting in a tavern in "Superior Montana" tonight drying off my bike, pants, coat etc. Fricken black cloud just rolled on in :P

I didn't even know what town I was in till I called Jerry and he made me ask someone in the bar.  It came down so hard it was all I could do just to see the off ramp.  It has been ove 100 degrees the past 2 days of riding so this was a bit strange.

I went camping in Ortonville MN which is only a couple hundred miles from Sturgis. Seen a lot of bikes floating through.

My aunt and uncle are restoring an old hotel in Superior, Montana.

How do you like the scenery so far? (minus the rain)

hey,
Are you on this trip solo? Why do you need a dentist?  N2O?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

It's really beautiful. Call your Uncle and tell him I'm sitting in
The 4 Aces Bar. He can't be more than 300 ft away one way or another ;D  Tell him I'll buy him a beer.

Solo So far, meeting up with another forum member "Jerry from Colorado" in 2 days at a cabin near Jellystone ;D

The Dentist comment was more related to some of the finer local color :-\

It was Jerry who got the house in Spearfish so it wasn't my place to invite anyone.  He did place a post on here looking for more participants, there may still be room in the house? ...... Jerry's leaving tomorrow, I'm sure he will be on here tonight unless the beer got the best of him ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, we're in Idaho and the craziest thunder/lightning storm rolled in last night after three days of hot/dry weather. You must be catching some of the same front we got. I herd it was headed that way.
Keep the rubber side done and good luck with the rest of the trip.

P.S. I don't think there are any dentists around here either.

Thanks for making me not feel lonely  ;D

If your going through yellowstone is your path going to lead you through Idaho falls by chance and are you riding your tracy?

I don't think so, Jerry may be headed up that way from Colorado?

Wait a sec....you are meeting Jerry at a cabin in the mountains..alone??? I would have demanded that I brought someone else along  ;D

He is the one bringing a riding buddy. They both came to my house on Gabriola last summer, so I have some idea what's in store ;D  Their one night turned into 2 or 3, I can't remember :)

I'm riding my K8. The Tracy has to many unkowns and F8ck would it be uncomfortable. My wrist hurt just riding it to the video store ;D

We have the house for the whole 7 days ;D ;D ;D

An old dude last night (Wiskers)  in "Coulee City" tells me to watch out for naked woman in Sturgis 8)

Geez, I thought you went with Tracy, now I am not so upset that I could not go.
That Tracy has to be at least 2X more comfy than my bike..

Guess I can afford to miss a few Sturgis Rally,s... I think I have been there at least 6 times on about at least 4 different CB 750s... :o ;D

That damn Canadian (seaweb) brought 2 Canadian cold fronts with him  ::)

I'm heading out about 6:30am and 50 degrees forecast. Meeting up at Newc's house in Denver then headed for 1st night at/near Park City, UT via I-70, CO139, and US40.

Day 2 Thur has us meeting up with Derek at Hebgen Lake, MT. (very bottom corner near W Yellowstone) via back roads and probably near Idaho Falls. No sense in mapping it until tomorrow night especially since all the good maps are packed on the bike.

Day 3 Fri has us riding Yellowstone with a late afternoon crossing of Beartooth Pass into Red Lodge, MT for the night.

Day 4 Sat has us riding into Spearfish, SD (20mi west of Sturgis) for 1 week.

Days 5-12 or so has us getting into as much as possible.  ;)

Please leave phone numbers for bail money  ;D

Good night. 5:30 is WAY earlier than I usually get up.

ps Derek, the toothless women are good, the toothless men are not  :o
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

gassing up along the interstates, bike or car, I notice not so many grayhair bikers headed to Sturgis this year,  they are now whitehaired.

It would be interesting to know the demographics. I think Harley's next challenge, besides general survival, will be to appeal to the next generation younger.  I wonder what the 45 year olds of today will want to satisfy their mid-life crisis, which is likely to be set back to their age 55 or so.

It's all about Palm Springs, Murrieta, Temecula, and Riverside for the meth dude. When I was tearing around near 29 plams there were tweaker communities out in the middle of no where in the desert. You come up over a dune and suddenly you see like 12 mobile homes and some tweaker peaking at you through a scope. No bueno.

Sea.. that sucks to hear about that. I was wondering why I hadn't heard from them in a while. I'll have to give them a call.   :-\
