Carb help needed '83 CM450

Idles beautifully, just above idle 1/4 -1/2 throttle stumbles badly, 3/4 up fine again. Backround: 1789 miles on the bike, carbs were completely disassembled, soaked in Berrymans, blown out with air, and sprayed again with Gumout. New Keyster kits, with accelerator pump , and air valve kits, new jets, all adjusted per the Clymer manual, good clean fuel flow to the carbs. Anything exclusive to these carbs I could be missing?

I see your problem right off the bat.  It's that Clymer. ;D  There has to be a link to the Honda book somewhere.

Sounds like you did everything in the carbs, how about the rest of it?  Valves?  Cam chain?  Ignition?  Not too familiar with the CM, but does it have a mechanical advancer for timing?
Go metric, every inch of the way!

The only thing the Clymer manual was needed for was the float height which didn't need to be changed. All else is fine (less than 1800 miles), good compression, valves checked etc. I didn't check the advancer (if it has one). I know these carbs are pretty complex, I wish I had some old CB 350 carbs laying around to make work, or switch to a single carb, I'm not looking for performance (it's my wife's), just reliability.
