High pitch noise or Howling from lower engine
« on: July 29, 2009, 11:01:41 AM »
Hello  When riding at 5000 rpm and higher on the highway I hear a high pitch noise of howling from the lower engine clutch area.

Any one experience this? and what should I do or look for?

It goes away when I pull in the clutch lever.

Thanks

Any recent oil changes?   Some types of oil are also bad for these wet clutches.   Does the noise accompany any performance issues like slipping?

The type of oil i put in when I got the bike was 10w40 Blend.   It was a really hot day when the noise happen.  I have change the oil to 20w50 and it seems better but I did not get the chance to get on the interstate and ride much.  There is still something there but not much at lower speeds.  I will ride it again on the interstate.  At lower speeds and on secondary roads it seem ok and not much a noise to bother me.

May be something is coming loose?  I am not sure.  May be it shows up when it is really hot?

I have only put 200 miles on it.    The bike has 16000 miles on it.

I will check back later and update.

Thanks
