Hey guys, There is an estate auction going on next week in Buffalo,NY. Thought some of you would be interested in seeing whats up for sale. Tons of classics including BSA, triumph, norton, harley, BMW all kinds. I would like to know how this guy accumulated all of this history

I am in Hamburg.  It sounds like the entire lot is being auctioned as a complete unit, not individual parts and bikes.  That collection looks like it might be from Walter Kohl.  Walter Kohl was the BSA dealer in Lockport.  I went to his place in the mid 90s looking for a Triumph Bonneville.  He was recently closed and his shop was full of bikes.  He told me they had been selling bikes at the flea market and I should go there because he had a bunch of old Triumphs.  It wasn't Super Flea on Walden it was some out of the way market and I never followed up on it.  Anyway that lot may be from his family.  There are a few other shops in the area that have tons of old bikes like that.  Empire Cycle on Southwestern is full of old bikes and parts.  I may go out of curiosity just to check out some of that stuff.

If they are selling all that as one lot...there is going to be one person with a serious amount of cash just sitting. I seen a hand full of bike I would love to have. One being that 77 F2.

Sweet jesus! That's my wet dream of a collection of stuff! I'm a few hours from Buffalo but not worth the drive if they aren't selling anything off seperately...

I think they have arranged it into lots not one big lot.  I was confused by the terminology "everything sells to the highest bidder, no reserve".  After reading more on the J Wood site it looks like they are pairing frames with engines and offering them as a lot or pairing similar parts and offering that as a lot.  I might go just to check it out.  That blue Commando is sweet.

I'll probably look in to see what's going on, since that's right around the corner from work. Too bad I'm not buying now but should be interesting.

I just got back from the auction. Thanks for the heads-up.

It was fun to see, though I wasn't buying. There were maybe 200 bikes and many pallets and boxes of parts.

Highlights were a beautiful Benali, a Laverda, several Motto Guzzi's, Nortons, and yes Honda 4's. A very nice 550 four was already in someone's
pick up when I got there.

Serious money was being exchanged; many lots of Norton and Indian parts went for $500-$700 each.

An interesting time. I wish I'd gotten there sooner to see what bikes were selling for. I have a feeling there weren't too many 'steals', judging from the parts sales.

I was also in attendance. I got there early to browse.....

there were three cb750's.....and ALL three had locked up motors.

there was a REALLY cool 1/2 rolling chassis with a dunstall tank and guiliari seat on it too. I was kinda let down when there were some serious collectors and restorer's there bidding their butts off while I showed up with about $2k to attempt to snag one of the 750's or a sweet old triumph for a bobber project. seemed like about 20 bikes were complete/runners, and the other 150+ were some serious basket cases.

I snapped a couple pics with my phone while there of some of the cool stuff... but its a huge pain to transfer them to my computer and then upload. I was drooling over a MINT norton commando with a solo style seat though that was a nice bright blue metallic color with lots of chrome. it went for something like $12,000 though

Live auctions suck, its so frustrating to see stuff get bid up so high. I recently went to one that had a basket case Vespa I was willing to pay maybe $500 for and hoped to get for much less, I left the bidding at $600, it sold for $900.....and was a wreck.

Actually I meant Benelli, a 1970 twin. Does anyone know about these bikes? I met an owner there  who says they're pretty reliable.

Just curious.
